Bachmann Scenecraft Helps to Keep Welsh Heritage Line on Track

During the Ffestiniog Railway’s annual Bygones Weekend in October 2024, Bachmann Europe took the opportunity to present the railway with a cheque for £2,000, raised from the sale of Scenecraft models depicting various Ffestiniog Railway structures.

The Ffestiniog Railway has provided inspiration for a growing number of Bachmann Scenecraft models, with the line’s headquarters, Porthmadog Harbour Station, the first to be replicated in 4mm scale at the end of 2022. More recently, models of Harbour Station Goods Shed, Boston Lodge Blacksmiths & Wagon Workshop, Boston Lodge Engine Shed and Minffordd Waiting Room have each been released and it is from the sales of these four models that Bachmann has been able to raise £2,000 to help support the continued operation of the Ffestiniog Railway.

Each of the four models features in the current Scenecraft range and can be purchased from Bachmann stockists including the Ffestiniog Railway shop and recently, they have been joined by three more Scenecraft models depicting buildings and structures found at the railway’s Tan-Y-Bwlch Station.

Bachmann Scenecraft models are cast in resin using moulds created from hand-sculpted masters, with each casting them decorated by hand and adorned with separately fitted detail parts such as etched metal window frames, etched lattice work and printed poster boards where appropriate. The Ffestiniog-based models are produced at a scale of 4mm:1ft, making them suitable for use on both OO9 Narrow Gauge and OO Standard Gauge model railway layouts and dioramas.

The Bygones Weekend also saw Bachmann announce two new tooling projects for its Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 scale range, both of which are based on Ffestiniog Railway prototypes. The Tin Car Coaches and Curly Roof Van/Brake Third were both revealed for the first time and full details for each of these new models will be published in Bachmann’s Winter 2024 British Railway Announcements on Wednesday 6th November 2024.
