Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 Scale Quarry Hunslets – Now in Colour!

We were delighted to unveil the Livery Samples for the highly anticipated Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 Scale Quarry Hunslet locomotives at the recent London Festival of Railway Modelling, and we’re excited to share these with you here. Each model is highly detailed in its own right, and this is only enhanced by the exquisite livery application which combines numerous paint applications with countless printing processes to replicate every aspect of the colourful liveries that adorn these Quarry Hunslet locomotives. Specialist printing techniques are used to capture the intricate lining, cab controls, gauge markings and name & builders plates – the finished models will also be supplied with etched name plates and builders plates for even more realism. If that’s not impressive enough, remember these locomotives really are tiny, each being barely larger than a 9V battery!

Each model features a diecast boiler and running plate, accompanied by a wealth of separately fitted details including handrails, valves, springs, brake shoes and cab controls. The 0-4-0T wheel formation is faithfully modelled, with authentically-profiled wheels running in metal bearings ensuring smooth running, powered by a coreless motor with flywheel, and with a 6 Pin DCC decoder socket (use our 6 Pin Micro DCC Loco-Decoder – 36-571) they’re also suitable for those wishing to use the models with a DCC system. NEM coupling pockets feature at both ends, into which standard OO9 scale couplings are fitted.

Four models will be available initially, each unique with detail variants (some obvious, others not so) to accurately capture the character of each of the chosen prototypes. As is often the case, our Research & Development Team have been over these samples with a fine-tooth comb and have identified some areas which can be improved further, or that require some small changes to be made, but we’re sure you will agree these are already shaping up very nicely indeed!
