Great Model Railway Challenge Final Airs Tonight

Last modified date

At 8:00pm tonight on Channel 5, the Great Model Railway Challenge will see the winning teams from the five heats compete in the final to be crowned Britain’s Best Railway Modellers 2018. The teams battling to impress the two judges are: Aberdeen Model Railway Club, Basingstoke Bodgers, Fawley Flyers, Railway Video Division and Strangers on a Model Train.

This week’s theme is ‘a journey through time’, with the teams tasked to take viewers on an adventure through the Industrial Revolution, 1950s West Country railways, the Cold War, the 2012 London Olympics and culminating with a glimpse into the future. The task will be made tricker for the final, with all five layouts having to link their tracks to make one large layout.

The overall winners of the Great Model Railway Challenge will be joining us at the Warley Show (24th & 25th November 2018 at the NEC, Birmingham) so be sure to stop by the Bachmann stand and see the winning layout for yourself! Of course, we can’t reveal their identity yet but tune in tonight and you can find out! The team will be on hand throughout the weekend to share their experiences with visitors and answer any questions you may have.
