Bachmann Reveals All for Autumn 2024 in Latest British Railway Announcements

Last modified date

On Wednesday 7th August Bachmann Europe Plc launched its Autumn 2024 British Railway Announcements, releasing details of almost two hundred new products for N, OO and O Scale that will begin arriving with Bachmann retailers within the next three months. Beforehand, Bachmann had already revealed three new tooling projects for Autumn 2024 – the Class 08/09 Diesel Shunter and the NAA Propelling Control Vehicle in OO scale, and the LNER V2 Class Locomotive in N scale, and today, details of the first models to be produced for each were confirmed.

The all-new Graham Farish LNER V2 Class Locomotive sees Bachmann tackle this popular prototype in N scale for the first time in twenty years. The full tooling suite is exploited by the models included in the Autumn 2024 British Railway Announcements, with LNER- and BR-era locomotives, the latter having smokebox door numberplates with the top front lamp brackets mounted in a higher position as a result, and a late-BR locomotive depicted with three separate cylinders and outside steam pipes as opposed to the monobloc cylinder castings that the entire Class was built with. Two versions of the Group Standard Tender are modelled, and named locomotives dominate the initial lineup.

374-538 - GWR Hawksworth Second Corridor BR Blue & Grey
374-613 - GWR Hawksworth Auto-Trailer 'Test Car 1' BR RTC (Original)

With a healthy mix of LNER and Eastern Region rolling stock already available from Graham Farish, the new V2s have plenty to pull but today’s rolling stock additions to the Graham Farish range have more of a Western flavour as the Hawksworth Coaches return to the range. Four different coach types are available in GWR Chocolate & Cream and BR Maroon liveries, along with vehicles in Blue & Grey and the popular RTC Red and Blue colour scheme, plus models of the Hawksworth Auto-Trailer including RTC ‘Test Car 1’.

32-004A - GWR 49XX 'Hall' 5900 'Hinderton Hall' GWR Lined Green (GW Crest)
39-783 - LMS 50ft Inspection Saloon BR ScotRail
35-930 - Class 09 09106 DB Red (Unbranded)

Moving up to OO scale and the Western theme continues in the Bachmann Branchline range which welcomes the return of the GWR Hall Class, with models of three preserved locomotives available this Autumn, alongside the Class 117 3-Car and 121 Single Car DMUs that were delivered to the Western Region when built. A selection of GWR wagons, including China Clay Wagons, Vans and Brake Vans are joined by BR Standard Brake Van and 16T Mineral Wagons – including slope-sided versions. New rolling stock additions continue with further BR Mk1 Coaches, with no fewer than nine different vehicle types available in a variety of liveries, many of which are also available with pre-fitted passengers. New versions of the SR PMV and CCT vans and the LMS 50ft Inspection Saloons complete the Bachmann Branchline rolling stock fleet this Autumn.

The first models to be produced from the all-new Bachmann Branchline Class 08 and 09 Diesel Shunter tooling provides a snapshot of the prototype’s 70+ years in traffic. From original BR Green livery through to contemporary examples in DB Cargo Red and Retro BR Blue, the versatility of the Branchline tooling suite is demonstrated, if not fully exploited, by this initial lineup. With a high specification including a full lighting suite available to analogue and DCC users and SOUND FITTED options for the first time, SOUND FITTED DELUXE models are also available which include the new Auto-Release Coupling system whilst the 08/09 is the first model to feature our new ‘Bach-Up’ Stay Alive system, fitted as standard on all models and providing uninterrupted power when running on DCC.

The new offerings from Bachmann’s EFE Rail brand this Autumn are all for OO scale, starting with the NAA Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV). Developed exclusively for the EFE Rail range, these new models depict the vehicles created for Rail Express Systems in the mid-1990s and the new models feature directional lighting, along with cab lighting for DCC users. In addition to the PCVs, the first general release of the London Underground 1962 Tube Stock in motorised format will go on sale this Autumn, with the 4-car set depicting a Central Line train working to West Ruislip.

The final offerings for Autumn 2024 come from Bachmann’s Scenecraft range which welcomes back several popular items in OO scale, including the Diesel Fuelling Point and Fuel Storage Tanks. There are new additions aimed at OO9 scale Narrow Gauge modellers too, with two new structures depicting the station at Tan-Y-Bwlch expanding the range of Ffestiniog Railway-inspired models. A selection of handy lineside and town/country accessories are also added to the Scenecraft range in O scale.

With a full programme of new releases revealed today, alongside several incoming items from previous quarters, the next three months are set to see frequent new arrivals across Bachmann’s model railway ranges, all of which can be purchased exclusively from Bachmann retailers. Full details of the Autumn range can be found in the Autumn 2024 British Railway Announcements Catalogue, published with the Bachmann Times – the official magazine of the Bachmann Collectors Club – which is on the way to Club members now.
