Plastic kit perfection

AFV Club—Armoured Fighting Vehicle Series—are award winning plastic injection model kits introduced in 1989 by the Hobby Fan Trading Company. Specialising in 1:35 scale, AFV Club kits are designed and manufactured in Taiwan, and are recognised as some of the finest model kits in the world.

Pocketbond and Bachmann have represented AFV Club in the UK since the brand was launched more than 36 years ago. The latest shipment to arrive at the Bachmann warehouse (October 2025) includes three brand new U.S. Army-themed kits, comprising two military vehicles and a useful conversion set.

US Army M51A2 5-ton 6×6 Dump Gun Truck “Peace Maker”.

The M51A2 is a military 5‑ton 6×6 dump truck from the U.S. M39 series, introduced in the 1950s as a heavy-duty off-road hauler. During the Vietnam War, American army combat engineer units converted M51A2 dump trucks into gun trucks – heavily armoured vehicles equipped with multiple machine guns, ammo stowage, and protective cab structures. These served convoy escort and perimeter security roles.

This AFV Club kit utilises parts from the M54A2 5-ton 6×6 Cargo Truck (AF35300) and M51A2 5-ton Dump Truck (AF35322), combined with new-tooled parts for the armour plate box structure which fits into the dump body, plus new weapon mounts for the M2HB .50 Cal Machine Guns (AF35246). Markings included for “Peace Maker” of 585th DT Company, 589th Engineer Battalion, Phan Rang, Vietnam.
