Summer 2026 Blog – Summer of 69!

Welcome
Hello and welcome to the Summer Blog. It has been a rather busy few months with the Collectors Club attending four great model railway exhibitions, with two of them among the biggest in the country. If you managed to attend any of these, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did and it was great to see so many Club Members at these shows getting the benefit of discounted entry. For those in Scotland who we missed because we were unable to attend the Model Rail Scotland exhibition due to their date change, we will be back in Scotland next month for the Perth Model Railway Show and we look forward to seeing you there.
This Summer
June is going to be very busy as the Club is out and about every weekend, with the highlight being our Practically Perfect Sale on the 20th. So, make sure to pop along and get some great bargains and take full advantage of your membership with the discounts on offer. As this is a member only event, if you want to attend you can either join the Collectors Club on the day or ahead of the day by clicking here.
Once again, there is the opportunity to make this a great day out as not only will the Battlefield Lines café be open for refreshments, but they are also offering Club Members discounted train rides along the line for just £10 per adult and £7 for seniors, children and carers. Plus there will be a free heritage bus travelling from the railway station to and from Nuneaton and Hinckley. See the full details including timetables in the Summer edition of the Bachmann Times Magazine.

The Summer edition of the Bachmann Times has all the latest Club news including future shows, the next Annual Club wagons and full details of the new limited edition Collectors Club model, the highly anticipated Class 69, 69004 ‘RIDC Melton’ in RTC Red & Blue (GBRf) livery (35-779K/SF/SFX) that is in stock and available for members to purchase now.

We have the spotlight on the all-new OO scale Class 170 and 171 and the new tooling of the N scale Class 20 showing all the excellent details that these models feature. Paul Rice explains how he used Scenecraft and Woodland Scenics products to re-create the railway carriage cottage at Holt on the North Norfolk Railway in model form. Plus, the prize for our members’ competition this Summer is to win an EFE Rail Class 74 in BR Blue, and you’ll find the answer to the question in our article telling the story of these electro-diesels and why the 10 locomotives clocked up less than a decade in operational service.
With both the long and short firebox LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Jubilees now added to the Bachmann Branchline OO scale range, we discover more about William Stanier’s express steam locomotives history and life. And, as more ‘Presflo’ wagons also join the range, we take a look at the origins of this distinctive wagon type and the carriage of cement in general.
Also included within the Bachmann Times magazine is the Summer British Railway Announcements from Bachmann Europe detailing all the new models announced in the Branchline, Graham Farish, EFE Rail and Scenecraft ranges. Plus a very special EFE Road announcement of Dennis on a Dennis to celebrate 75 years of Dennis the Menace!
We hope you have enjoyed reading this and all the other benefits of being a Club member, don’t forget to pop by and say hello to us at any of the exhibitions, shows and events we attend.
Thank you and take care from all the Bachman Collectors Club Team.
