Narrow Gauge Galore from Bachmann

The end of 2017 saw the first releases from the Bachmann Narrow Gauge range of OO9 scale models with the Covered Goods Wagons and Open Bogie Wagons now available from Bachmann stockists in a number of liveries covering several eras. These wagons will be closely followed by the release of the Baldwin 10-12-D locomotives which are currently scheduled for release around Easter 2018.

Following the success of our Narrow Gauge range, we are pleased to announce that the following all-new models are currently in development to complement the initial releases.

Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0

The Hunslet locomotives were built for many industrial users across the country but became synonymous with the slate industry in North Wales and each of the four initial releases will represent a different quarry. This includes models of both open-cab and closed-cab locomotives, plus a number of other subtle differences to accurately portray each locomotive. Each model is suitable for both period settings and the preservation era as all of the locomotives depicted survive into preservation, largely unchanged from their days in industrial use.

Ashover Coach

The Ashover Light Railway ordered four coaches of this design from the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company in 1924 for the operation of passenger services on its line in Derbyshire. They were built on recycled bogies from First World War wagons. They operated at Ashover until passenger services ceased in 1936. Two coaches later found further use with the Lincolnshire Coast Light railway then based in Cleethorpes. These coaches can still be seen today operating at the LCLR line which is now located in Skegness. A third coach that also survived is located at the Golden Valley Light Railway in Derbyshire.

Slate wagons

These wagons are based on the Talyllyn Railway’s fleet of un-braked two-bar slate wagons and are typical of the type of wagons used for moving slate from quarry to interchange. Offered in a pack of three complete with slate loads, their lightly weathered condition produces a true in-service finish.

New Liveries

The Baldwin 10-12-D locomotive receives three new liveries to represent an earlier War Department Light Railway (WDLR) locomotive, a further Ashover Light Railway variant and the Locomotive that ran on the Glyn Valley Tramway (GVT) – complete with its unique closed cab.

Additional releases of the Bogie Open and Covered Goods Wagon are also introduced in complimentary liveries covering a number of eras.
