EFE ROAD PAYS TRIBUTE TO A UNIQUE RML

Last modified date

At the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum’s Open Weekend at Lathalmond, near Dunfermline, EFE Road showcased two new announcements, both with a Scottish flavour!

AEC Routemaster RML900 Clydeside Scottish Oor Wullie’s Special (E42301)

The first of EFE Road’s new announcements is the highly anticipated model depicting WLT900 in its post-March 1989 condition following the addition of its Clydeside Scottish fleet number – JC10.

Extensive research has gone into ensuring that every feasible aspect of the Oor Wullie livery has been reproduced accurately, including the rarely photographed roof artwork and even the Clydemaster radiator badge. To complete the artwork, Service 36 blinds are shown together with a Kilbarchan destination. But it doesn’t end there, as the model comes in a bespoke box sleeve which, as a licensed DC Thomson product, features classic Oor Wullie character artwork and the official tartan too.

The new model is based on EFE Road’s refined and updated RML tooling, which incorporates full bodyside panel lines for the first time on an EFE RML.

It is expected to reach retailers during Autumn 2025 and has an RRP of £54.95.

Clydeside 2000 Alexander Y-Type and AEC RML Routemaster Gift Set (E9944)

The second new announcement continues the story of WLT900’s years in Scotland with a special Clydeside 2000 twin pack; the second special gift set produced under the EFE Road banner after the Ensignbus Cravens RTs back in 2024.

This new gift set pays homage to Clydeside 2000 by featuring two notable vehicles from its once extensive fleet. The first of these is again WLT900, although this time it is depicted in its circa 1992 condition in Clydeside 2000’s smart red and yellow livery. As fleet number G99, it is presented as working a local service with a Greenock Town Centre destination.

The second vehicle in the gift set is one of the ubiquitous Alexander Y-Type bodied Leyland Leopards, which again is adorned with the bold Clydeside 2000 livery as carried in the early 1990s.

This dual-purpose 49-seater carried fleet number 630 and came to Scotland following a career with Lancaster City Transport. It is depicted working Service 17 to Glasgow via the Clyde Tunnel. The Y-Type features the later style of front grille design with twin headlights, and comes with 4-leaf doors – a combination never seen before on an EFE Y-Type.

The gift set has an RRP of £93.95 and is available to pre-order from Bachmann retailers now.
