Product Highlight: OO Scale BR Standard 9Fs
The Bachmann Branchline OO Scale fleet is about to expand, with several new models of British Railways Standard 9F locomotives due to arrive soon.
Built primarily for use with heavy freight trains, the 9Fs were outfitted with a variety of different chimney and tender configurations, several of which have been modelled here. All of our new 9F models share the following features:
- Removable Coal Load with coal space modelled below
- Adjustable Tender Drawbar (two settings)
- Accessory Pack
- NEM Coupling Pockets
- Tender Pickups
- Powerful 5 Pole Motor
- Sprung Buffers
- Equipped with a Plux22 DCC Decoder Socket – recommended Decoder item No. 36-570 or 36-570A
Each model is available in standard and SOUND FITTED versions. The SOUND FITTED models come equipped with an ESU Loksound V5DCC Sound Decoder, which has been programmed with one of two exclusive sound projects. These sound projects both contain over 20 functions and sounds that are appropriate for the number of chimneys on the locomotive.
SOUND FITTED models may also be used on most Analogue (DC) layouts, where they will play normal load running sounds as well as other other automatic or randomised sounds when power is applied.
32-852A(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1F Tender 92069 BR Black (Early Emblem) [W]
Our first model is 32-852A, which is BR Standard 9F number 92069 and is decorated in BR’s Black livery and early emblem. This 9F has a single chimney and a BR1F tender. Unlike the other models, this 9F has also had weathering applied. The SOUND FITTED version is available as product code 32-852ASF.
32-852B(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1F Tender 92010 BR Black (Early Emblem)
Our next model is 32-852B, which is 9F number 92010. This locomotive also has a single chimney and BR1F tender, but is decorated in pristine BR Black with early emblem. The SOUND FITTED version is available as product code 32-852BSF.
32-859B(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1F Tender 92184 BR Black (Late Crest)
32-859B is our next model, which depicts 9F number 92184 in BR Black with the British Railways Roundel emblem. This locomotive also has a BR1F tender but unlike the previous models, it has a double chimney. The sound fitted version is available under product code 32-859BSF.
32-859A(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1F Tender 92212 BR Black (Late Crest)
The next model is 32-859A, which is 9F number 92212 in BR Black with the British Railway Late Crest. This locomotive also has a BR1F tender and double chimney. The sound fitted version is available as product code 32-859ASF. The real 9F locomotive 92212 has been preserved.
32-861A(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1G Tender 92090 BR Black (Late Crest)
Our penultimate 9F model is 32-861A, which is 9F number 92090 and carries the BR Black livery with British Railway Late Crest. This locomotive has a single chimney, but unlike the previous models is connected to a BR1G tender. The SOUND FITTED version is available as 32-861ASF.
32-861(SF) – BR Standard 9F with BR1G Tender 92134 BR Black (Late Crest)
Our final model is 32-861, which depicts 9F number 92134 in BR Black with the British Railways Roundel emblem. This locomotive also has a single chimney and a BR1G tender. A SOUND FITTED version is available as 32-861SF. The real locomotive has been preserved and is the only surviving 9F fitted with a single chimney.
