Product Highlight: N Scale BR 102T TEA Bogie Tank Wagons
It’s almost time for a spot of TEA, but we don’t mean the kind made with leaves and boiling water! We’re talking about the BR 102T TEA Bogie Tank Wagon, which is the basis of several new N scale models that are due to arrive into the Graham Farish range over the next few months.
These TEA wagons have been produced using some new tooling options that have allowed us to model two further variations with different ends that have not been previously available, whilst all versions have the standard walkway along the top of the tank and ladders at each end. There are two models in each livery, allowing for a choice of multiple running numbers which, along with other printed details such as logos and warning signs, have been applied with authentic typefaces, logos and colours.
The wagons feature a separately fitted handbrake wheel along the solebar on each side, whilst underneath there is fully modelled brake equipment surrounded by either ESC1 or Gloucester bogies as appropriate, with each having bogie-mounted NEM coupling pockets. Each wagon also comes with an accessory pack included in the box.
The TEA Bogie Tank Wagons were revealed in our Summer British Railway Announcements. Watch the video above.
The TEA wagon was originally designed during the mid-1960s in order to transport fuel such as petroleum as well as other oil products. The design was considered to be successful, and several further wagons were built to similar designs over the next few decades. The wagons, along with their derivatives, are still in use today and are the primary method used for transporting fuel on the British rail network.
