Product Highlight: A Summer of Colour from Scenecraft

Last modified date

There have been several new additions to the Scenecraft range of OO Scale Buildings recently, with a variety of models that have been released in multiple colours.

Having colour choices available gives modellers the opportunity to choose buildings and structures that are appropriate to their layout, or maybe just to use models that are decorated in their own preferred colour schemes. It even allows multiple instances of the same design of building to be used on a layout without there being exact duplicates, which can be incredibly useful in cases such as a row of terraced houses.

44-020B/44-020R Covered Station Footbridge

44-020B – Covered Metal Footbridge Blue and Cream
44-020R – Covered Metal Footbridge Red and Cream

Our first group of models is this pair of Covered Metal Station Footbridges. Both bridges have stairs with wooden cladding painted in cream and a corrugated metal roof to provide passengers with some protection from the weather while crossing above the tracks. 44-020B has the metalwork and other highlights painted in blue, while 44-020R has the metalwork and other highlights painted in red.

44-0168G – GCR Signal Box Green
44-0168M – GCR Signal Box Maroon and Cream

Our next models are these GCR Signal Boxes. These particular models were inspired by the signal box at the Great Central Railway’s Rothley Station in Leicestershire. The models are both decorated in colours that this Signal Box has worn in real life, with 44-0168M using the maroon and cream colours that adorned the box when it was operated by BR’s London Midland Region. 44-0168G uses the Signal Box’s current colours which are based on those used by the original Great Central Railway company during the early 1910s.

Moving along the line now, we have this pair of Lineside Brick Substation building models. In areas with electrified lines, these buildings would contain the equipment and machinery needed to provide power to the railway at the correct voltage. 44-0181G is decorated with green doors and highlights, whilst 44-0181B has those same details painted in black.

44-0174G – Gatekeeper’s Cottage Green
44-0174R – Gatekeeper’s Cottage Red

These Gatekeeper’s Cottage models have similar colours to the Great Central Railway models above, allowing them to work well together. However, these cottages could be placed on any layout depicting a country location or to contrast newer buildings on a layout depicting a more modern town. 44-0174G has painted green doors and highlights, whilst 44-0174R has the same details decorated in red.

They are designed to work with the Low Relief Right Hand Bay Terrace models mentioned below and the 44-0215 Low Relief Terrace Courtyard Entrance model. 44-0213G has the door painted in green and 44-0213B has it decorated in blue.

These models will work with the Low Relief Right Hand Bay Terrace models mentioned above and the 44-0215 Low Relief Terrace Courtyard Entrance to provide some variety to your street. 44-0214B has the door painted in black whilst 44-0214R has it decorated in red.

44-0215 – Low Relief Terrace Courtyard Entrance

44-0215 – Low Relief Terrace Courtyard Entrance

Our last model is 44-0215, which is the Low Relief Terrace Courtyard Entrance. This model helps to provide the illusion of access to the yards and gardens behind the houses. Although this model technically only comes in a single colour, it is designed to be positioned to either side of any of the Low Relief Left and Right Hand Bay Terrace models mentioned above. These additional combinations allow for even more options to make up a complete terrace of unique buildings.
