Product Highlight: OO Scale Class 40s

Last modified date

The Class 40 is making a welcome return to the Bachmann Branchline range, with several upgraded OO scale models due to arrive soon.

These new Class 40 models have been equipped with a multitude of features and are brought to life by their striking liveries which have been applied using authentic colours, typefaces and logos. The locomotives all share the following common attributes:

  • Five pole, twin shaft motor with two flywheels providing drive to both bogies
  • Electrical pickup from all twelve driving wheels
  • Rotating radiator fan (un-motorised)
  • NEM coupling pockets to NEM362 standards integrated into each bogie
  • Plux22 DCC decoder interface
  • Two quality speakers employed for optimum sound reproduction, fitted to every model as standard
  • Pre-fitted driver in one cab
  • Each model is pre-fitted with a full set of decorated, model-specific buffer beam pipework whilst further accessory parts, including Etched Nameplates and Plaques, are supplied separately where applicable
  • Directional lighting, including headlights and high intensity headlights where applicable, switchable on/off at either end on DCC or Analogue control
  • Cab lighting assigned to two DCC functions for separate switching of each

The individual Class 40s had a number of minor variations which have been accurately replicated on our models. These include details representative of different boilers, differences in the positioning of handrails on the cab noses, multiple styles of headcode, and decorated model-specific buffer beam pipework.

Each model is available in both standard and SOUND FITTED versions. The SOUND FITTED models are equipped with an ESU Loksound V5DCC Sound Decoder, which has been loaded with a exclusive sound file produced using recordings from real locomotives.

SOUND FITTED models may also be used on most analogue (DC) layouts, where they will play authentic engine start up sequence and running sounds when power is applied
