Product Preview: Railway Celebrations Range

Last modified date

The world’s first passenger carrying railway was the Stockton and Darlington Railway, which opened on the 27th of September 1825. The opening of the railway sparked a revolution over not just the UK but the whole world, leading to huge changes not just in the way that people travelled, but also how they traded, communicated, and even measured time!

The measuring of time is an especially important theme when it comes to the railways in 2025, as it means that 1825 was two hundred years ago! The influence that the railways have had on the world during these two centuries has been celebrated several times, with special events being held to mark the 50th, 100th and 150th anniversaries.

GWR 57xx with Railway Celebrations Packaging

These celebratory events have provided the inspiration for Bachmann’s new Railway Celebrations range, which will depict some of the locomotives and rolling stock that took part during these historical jubilees, and other items that have a strong connection to the Stockton & Darlington area, as the birthplace of the modern railway. We have a number of exciting new models, in multiple scales, planned for Railway Celebrations, and the first OO Scale models were revealed as part of the recent Spring 2025 British Railway Announcements, so let’s take a look at these upcoming but still historical arrivals!
