Product Highlight: OO Scale Tyne Dock BR Standard 9Fs
The Bachmann Branchline range welcomed several OO Scale models of the BR Standard 9F earlier in the year, and we are delighted to introduce even more locomotives from this class.
These new models depict the locomotives that worked at Tyne Dock, featuring a single chimney and a BR1B tender. The Tyne Dock 9Fs were fitted with a Westinghouse Air Pump along the right-hand side of the boiler, which enabled them to operate the discharge doors on hopper wagons for faster unloading.
The locomotives are decorated in British Railways’ unlined black livery and carry the late BR crest on their tenders. Both models have been weathered to appear in an appropriate work-stained condition and share the following features:.

- Adjustable Tender Drawbar (two settings)
- Accessory Pack
- NEM Coupling Pockets
- Sprung Buffers
- Tender Pickups
- Powerful 5 Pole Motor
- Equipped with a Plux22 DCC Decoder Socket – recommended Decoder item No. 36-570B
- Pre-fitted speaker
SOUND FITTED versions of each model are also available. These versions feature an ESU Loksound V5 DCC Sound Decoder that has been programmed using a sound project containing over 20 functions. This sound project has been designed exclusively for the Tyne Dock 9Fs and features sounds and functions that are specific to the Westinghouse Air Pump.
The SOUND FITTED locomotives may also be used on most Analogue (DC) layouts, where they will play normal load running sounds as well as other other automatic or randomised sounds when power is applied.

The first of our Tyne Dock BR Standard 9F models is 32-862, which depicts No. 92060. A SOUND FITTED version is available under product code 32-862SF.
32-862A(SF) – BR Std 9F (Tyne Dock) with BR1B Tender 92097 BR Black (Late Crest) [W]
Our other Tyne Dock BR Standard 9F model is 32-862A, which is No. 92097. The SOUND FITTED version is available under product code 32-862ASF.
The Bachmann Branchline range also contains many OO Scale BR Standard 9F models that depict the class in standard usage without Westinghouse Air Pumps. These locomotives feature various combinations of tender and chimney, with the SOUND FITTED versions having suitable sound projects for each type. These models are already available and can be purchased from Bachmann retailers now.
