Product Highlight: N Scale BR Standard Class 5MTs
For this week’s Product Highlight, we will once again be returning to the Graham Farish range of N Scale models as we focus on another Graham Farish returnee, the British Rail Standard Class 5MT steam locomotive.
As with all Graham Farish locomotives, there is a large amount of detail present on these small models, including separate metal handrails on both the body of the locomotive and the tender, brass whistle and safety valve, and pipework running underneath the footplate between the cab and the injectors on the boiler. The individual gauges and controls inside the cab are moulded and decorated.
These models have also undergone several technical upgrades, with the driving wheels featuring electrical pickups and separate metal bearings. The tender wheels also feature electrical pickups. Alongside these features, the models all share the following aspects in common:
- Accessory Pack
- NEM Coupling Pockets
- Powerful Coreless Motor
- Loco-drive Mechanism
- Rear driving wheels fitted with traction tyres – additional tyres available as item No. 379-424
- Speaker Fitted
- Equipped with a Next18 DCC Decoder Socket – Recommend Decoder item No. 36-567B
SOUND FITTED versions of these models are also available. These models feature a Zimo MS590N18 DCC Sound Decoder that has been programmed with an exclusive sound project containing over 25 functions.
The SOUND FITTED models may also be used on Analogue DC layouts, where normal-load running sounds, acceleration steam chuff sounds and many other automatic and randomised sounds are produced when power is applied.
